One of North Devon’s most loved family attractions is Watermouth Castle on the outskirts of Combe Martin. This Victorian castle is home to a great range of quirky rides, as well as dungeons, a water show and gnome land.
A fun day out for everyone can be had at the Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park, which is set over 28 acres and features sub-tropical gardens, animatronic dinosaurs and of course some well-loved animals, such as lions, wolves, meerkats and penguins. Included with your tickets are live shows, animal encounters and access to a large indoor soft play area.
The beautiful Arlington Court on the edge of Exmoor includes a wonderful Regency House and a large horse drawn carriage museum, all of which are set within picturesque gardens and grounds, which have more than 20 miles of footpaths to discover. The National Trust managed estate also hosts a number of events throughout the year, so it is well worth seeing what is going on before visiting.
North Devon is home to one of the UK’s most loved zoo. Located on the edge of the National Park, Exmoor Zoo is home to a wide array of animals, many of which face extinction, there is also the Exmoor Beast to see! Throughout the day several animal encounters are available to take part in, as well as some talks from the experienced keepers.
In South Molton you will find Quince Honey Farm where you can learn all about bees. The farm is home to 18 colonies and millions of bees, which are producing honey for the onsite shop and tea room. At Quince Honey Farm you get to get up close to the bees seeing hoe the honey is made. Also, onsite is an indoor soft play area.
The award-winning Ilfracombe Aquarium is a great way to see what lives under the sea around North Devon. Located by the harbour, the aquarium has many different exhibits that have been recreated to house more than 75 species of fish, as well as anemones and crabs.
The amazing David Kennard has opened up his farm on the edge of Woolacombe to allow visitors to see his dogs at work. David, who along with his dogs are the stars of Channel Fives, Mist’s Sheepdogs Trials has a number of shows on offer, including the family friendly farmyard show and a sheepdog and falconry display.
